Golden Pint Awards 1992

In 1992 I'd probably been converted to drinking real ale for a couple of years, so this is about as far back as I could go and not be completely embarrassed regarding my beer drinking habits !

Best UK Draught (Cask or Keg) Beer:
Orkney Dark Island

Best UK Bottled or Canned Beer:
Cans of Draughtflow (widget-based) Boddingtons, launched in 1991/92 - they were *great*

Best Overseas Draught Beer:
This is likely to have been... *shame* Budweiser, at a Sports Bar in London

Best Overseas Bottled Beer:
Grolsch (in de beugel swing-top bottles, of course)

Best Overall Beer:
Orkney Dark Island

Best Pumpclip or Label:
Broughton Merlin's Ale

Best UK Brewery:
Harviestoun, introduced me to pale'n'hoppy ales

Best Overseas Brewery:
Koninklijke Grolsch N.V.

Pub/Bar of the Year:
Fishermans Tavern, Broughty Ferry

Beer Festival of the Year:
Glen Cova Beer Festival (still on-going today), fantastic surroundings

Supermarket of the Year:
Willie Low's (before Tesco take-over)

Independent Retailer of the Year:
I simply can't remember going to any for beer

Best Online Beer Presence:
USENET alt.beer

Food and Beer Pairing of the Year:
Steak Pie & Chips and McEwans 70/-, Birkhill Inn (nr Dundee)

In 1993 I’d Most Like To…
Go to the Munich Oktoberfest (no change there then!)
